Elle hails from Stowe, Vermont where she grew up as a ski racer in a family of athletes: A former professional ski racer for a mom, and a cyclist and skier for a dad. After success as a junior, a series of skiing injuries caused her to turn to cycling in 2008. Elle found cyclocross early on in her days as a collegiate racer, and decided to purse her first full cyclocross season in 2011 shortly after graduating from Dartmouth College in Hanover, New Hampshire.
Elle’s breakout season came in 2013, where she won six UCI races and secured the overall U.S. Pro CX series while racing for California Giant Berry/Specialized. Elle wrapped up her season with a silver medal at the U.S. National Championships and a 15th place at World Championships in Hoogerheide, The Netherlands.
For the 2014-15 cyclocross season, Elle departed from the U.S. domestic circuit to commit to a full season racing in Europe with a Belgian-based team. With a solid European debut season, she consistently placed in the top-5 and top-10 on the circuit, with a highlight of 5th place at the Valkenburg World Cup in The Netherlands.
2016 will be Elle’s third cyclocross season based in Europe. She rides for her own custom program, Elle Anderson Racing, and is supported by SRAM, Velocio, Challenge tires, and ROti Cycling Services. Targeting the World Cup and Superprestige circuits, US Nationals and World Championships this season, Elle aims to expand on her experience in Europe, to achieve consistent top-5 results, and rank within the top 15 in the UCI. She also hopes to give back to the sport this year by providing mentorship and opportunities in Europe to help develop America’s next female cyclocross talent.
Elle currently works for Strava where she manages the online community discussions for the support team. When not racing in Europe, Elle resides in Oakland, California.
